February 18th became a truly special day at the Mozart Wine House Sommelier Academy. With the support of the East European Association of Sommeliers and Experts, we hosted a meeting with the brilliant and talented winemaker, Kira Efimova, and had the pleasure of exploring the artisanal terroir wines of the Crimean winery Le K2.

Kira Efimova, with her characteristic sincerity and professionalism, guided guests through the creation journey of each wine. We heard captivating, personal stories about how care for the soil, a respectful approach to grape varietals, and the aspiration to convey the unique character of the land are embodied in every bottle of Le K2. The live interaction allowed for the most nuanced questions about technology, philosophy, and, of course, taste profiles to be addressed.

Our journey through the Le K2 winery unfolded through six unique samples:

•  Massal Riesling: Purity, freshness, and astonishing minerality. This sample was the perfect guide into the world of Crimean white wines, demonstrating the full complexity of the terroir.
•  "Na Svetu" (In the Light) Sauvignon Blanc: Bright, with expressive aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, it evoked the feeling of a sunny day.
•  "Tyomnaya Roza" (Dark Rose) (Syrah and Colombard): Playful and delicate, this rosé blend captivated with its freshness and subtle berry notes, proving that rosé wines can be not only light but also structured.
•  "Pi" Pinot Noir: The magic of one of the most capricious varietals. Lightness, delicate berry notes, and silky tannins – the true embodiment of elegance.
•  "Kamenolomnya" (Quarry) (Syrah): Powerful, yet restrained. This Syrah revealed the full potential of the varietal on Crimean soil, showcasing spicy undertones and a deep fruity profile.
•  "V Glubine" (In the Depths) (Blend): A true masterpiece, a blend that embodied complexity and harmony. A multi-layered wine, unfolding in stages, leaving a long and pleasant finish.

This meeting was a true gift for wine connoisseurs! We thank Kira Efimova for her invaluable knowledge and emotions, and all our guests for their passion for wine and curiosity!
