The number of official viticulture and winemaking zones in Russia has increased to 18. The list has been expanded by the Republic of Mordovia, which received the status of an independent winemaking territory on May 6, 2025.
Now that Mordovia has joined the official viticulture regions, the republic's vineyards are included in the register of lands suitable for industrial viticulture, which opens access to subsidies, tax breaks and other government support measures that will stimulate the development of the industry.
The "Krai Zemli" company has already planted 17.5 thousand vines on 10 hectares in the Ardatovsky district. Among the first planted varieties were Ugni Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Violet Early, Tsimlyanskу Black, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
