* Fact #1: The oldest wine dates back to 325 AD! It was found in 1867 in the German city of Speyer in a Roman tomb. The bottle is still sealed and on display in the Palatinate Historical Museum.

* Fact #2: You can drink wine in space! French company Space Cargo Unlimited sent grapevines and wine to the International Space Station to study the effects of microgravity on the aging process of wine.

* Fact #3: Fear of wine is real! There is a phobia called "oenophobia" - fear of wine. Can you imagine?

* Fact #4: The first corkscrew dates back to 1795. That was when Samuel Henshall, a member of the British government, patented the design of the corkscrew. Previously, there was no need for it, since wine was stored in barrels, and served in special jugs.

* Fact #5: An unusual fact, but it turns out that wine can be combined with sports! The Drunken Marathon is a running event that takes place every September in the Medoc province (France). About 10 thousand runners participate in it. The distance is 42.195 kilometers. The route passes through the most beautiful vineyards and wineries of the Medoc. Every 2 kilometers of the distance, runners are rewarded - a table with the best Bordeaux wines and a variety of snacks - cheeses, oysters, pastries and other delicacies. And the main prize at the finish is Bordeaux wine from the best harvests and vineyards. Moreover, the winner can take wine in the amount of his own weight.
