A Message to 2050: A "Time Capsule" in the Vineyards of Veneto

The Italian winery Gianni Tessari (Veneto region) has launched a unique project that bridges the gap between eras. In the commune of Fratta Polesine, a hermetically sealed stainless steel capsule was ceremonially buried—a "snapshot" of 2025 winemaking captured for future generations.
What is inside the "message"?
- A bottle of sparkling wine from the 2025 harvest.
- Soil and vine samples from the local vineyards.
- A USB drive containing personal messages from the Tessari family, video footage, and technical documents detailing modern production methods.
For winery founder Gianni Tessari, this project serves as a "bridge" between generations. However, experts also emphasize its scientific significance: by 2050, these materials will become an invaluable record for studying climate change and the evolution of agricultural technologies over a quarter-century.
The opening date is set for October 13, 2050. In 25 years, the children and grandchildren of today’s winemakers will not only be able to taste a wine from the past but also understand the philosophy and values that drove their ancestors in the mid-2020s.
