Russian Alcohol Regulation Department and the Ministry of Economical Development at a regular meeting couldn't agree in the question of limits for retail price of champagne and sparkling wines. As the “Vedomosti” writes, it means that the ban to sales of cheap bubbles is frozen at least till New Year. To regulate minimal price to sparkling wine the regulative organ proposed in October, this limit was named as 115 rubles. In November the Ministry declared disagree as the effect of the measure was not found enough high. Also, the functionary decided that the Department is not competitive to regulate market process for the alcohol drinks weaker than 28 degree. Several weeks the organs have been trying to get closer in the decision, but with no success. Together still according to the “Vedomosti” a table of disagreement is made and sent to the Ministry of Justice. So, introduction of minimal retail price to sparkling wine is delayed. However the Director of the Union of Vine-growers and Wine-makers of Russia, Mr. Popovich, the producers are not going to give up. 8 public organizations signed a letter proving a regulative affect of the limit of retail price to sparkling wines and champagne. At a meeting of representatives of East European Sommeliers and Experts Association and Department of Consumer Market of the Rostov region in Rostov-on-Don Mr. Popovich declared that the time had come to create an article to regulate wine product apart from strong alcohol.
