The most popular wine of Italy

 
 
The best-seller wine in Italian supermarkets according to the results of sales was named Lambrusco. Last year more than 14 million liters were sold for 44 million Euro. The second and the third places are taken by Chianti and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo respectively, the forth and the fifth places went to Barbera and Bonarde. Such results were announced by Symphony IRI Group after a research of the wine sales in supermarkets, final report will be published on the 8th of April at Vinitaly. The research revealed a significant decrease of sales of Nero d’Avola (-30.2%) due to grow of its price to 20%, the same trend have some other wines. Between “coming up” wines there are Pecorino from Marke and Abruzzo (+23,8%) followed by Pignoletto, Grillo, Traminer, Falanghina. Total increase of price in 2012 achieved 11% stated Italia.ru.
